Multi Touch Test
Press several fingers inside the test area and drag: each finger gets a colored trail while the panel shows current and maximum touch points — a finger that registers no dot, a broken trail or drift means trouble.
Press and drag with one or more fingers.
How to read it
- Most phones/tablets report 5–10 simultaneous points, touch laptops 10 — under spec is not always a fault since some OS gestures reserve fingers.
- A finger down with no dot is a dead zone; trails without fingers are ghost touches; jagged straight lines mean jitter or low report rate.
- Clean the screen and unplug the charger before judging — film, grease and charging noise all cause false anomalies.
Frequently asked questions
How many points should register?
Depends on hardware and browser: most phones and tablets support 5–10 simultaneous points and touch laptops 10. A lower reading than the spec is not always a fault — iOS Safari reserves some multi-finger gestures.
What counts as abnormal?
A press with no dot (dead zone), trails without a finger (ghost touch), jagged or broken straight lines (low report rate or jitter), and unresponsive edges. Screen protectors, charging interference and grease cause false alarms — clean the screen and unplug the charger first.
Why does my trail break mid-drag?
Either the digitizer drops reports, or a system gesture stole the edge swipe (like the bottom swipe-home on bezel-less phones). Start strokes near the center; only a repeat failure in another browser points to hardware.
Does it work on touch-screen PCs?
Yes. Chrome and Edge report touch, pen and mouse through Pointer Events — the pointer-type column separates them, so you can verify finger touch and pen input independently.
